Breaking Fast....

We enjoyed a bowlful of steel cut oats with bananas, golden raisins, and brown sugar this morning. I have been eating steel cut oats for several years now but never thought to put a banana in them. If added during the last few minutes of cooking it will dissolve completely. Very yummy!

It was a good thing we had such a breakfast because we'll need strength to get through this...

But this is REALLY what its all about!

I love oatmeal for breakfast, especially in winter. But what in the world are steel cut oats?

I bought some steel cut oats last winter and never did anything with them. I finally tossed them last week. I need to figure out how to cook them. Any helpful hints?? Oh, and I can't eat cinnamon.

Mango in the steel cut oats is really good. I cook them overnight in the crockpot with dried mango and the kiddos love it!

Mmmm ... oatmeal! It's just the time of year when it becomes our daily meal. I'm going to try this banana addition!

My one year old has oatmeal and banana (or strawberries in season) every morning. She can't get enough of it!
